Cameron Cole

Cameron joined the Cai group in March 2026 as a postdoctoral research associate, working on synthetic phage biocontainment. He received his BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Exeter, writing his dissertation on automated hydrogen–deuterium exchange mass spectrometry analysis pipelines. He then moved to the University of Cambridge, where he attained his MPhil in Physics, working on long-duration timelapse microscopy of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii microcolonies in the Cicuta group at the Biological and Soft Systems Institute. He remained at the University of Cambridge to complete a PhD at the MRC Toxicology Unit in the Willis group, studying eukaryotic translation and probing the role of the ASC-1 complex in the resolution of endogenously colliding ribosomes. Outside the lab, Cameron enjoys listening to music, growing tropical plants, and watching football.
